Marc Smith Wood Sculptures
A California woodcarver, Marc Smith's inspiration is the natural beauty of Morro Bay and the surrounding wildlife sanctuary. His creations depict the flowing and graceful lines of birds, animals and sea creatures from throughout the world. Marc captures the true beauty of nature in his wood sculpture.
With an exceptional ability to recognize and appreciate the abundant variety and genuine beauty naturally inherent to wood, Marc is in constant search of the most unique and highly figured hardwoods. Each of his pieces is individually hand crafted from woods such as Buckeye Burl, Black Walnut, Bubinga, Wenge, Cocobolo and Paduak, to name a few. Once finished to a high luster, Marc secures his sculpture to a stable base of Manzanita root.
Marc Smith's carvings and woodwork have been a part of By the Bay Gallery's collection since 1996.
