Mikutowski Woodworking
Mikutowski Woodworking is located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Founded in 1986 by Mike Mikutowski and his wife Liz, their well-organized woodworking shop produces close to 40 different products. Specializing in high quality jewelry boxes, their work can be found in exclusive galleries from coast to coast.
Every Mikutowski piece is individually hand-made. Keen on environmental responsibility, leftover materials are used to produce smaller items or to embellish specific boxes. Any surplus is donated to area schools and elderly care service programs for art and craft education.
Mike is involved in every aspects of product development and fabrication. He designs the pieces, builds the jigs, and when necessary, creates custom equipment. With an eye towards beauty and function, he skillfully enhances select jewelry-box lids with delicate inlay work. He is also the one who methodically selects the lumber for the work. As a product of nature, wood is intrinsically warm, and unique variations in wood color and grain occur. Mike's objective is to highlight the natural wood grain of the finished product. He uses no stain or artificial color in the manufacturing process. Simply, a clear lacquer is applied to achieve a beautiful luster and ensure durability.
Mike’s passion for creating fine woodcrafts is evident in the superior workmanship and exceptional detail of every item produced by Mikutowski Woodworking. We are proud to include Mike Mikutowski’s work in our collection of fine American Crafts.
