Scott Bisson

At age 17, Scott became drawn to glass while attending high school in Philomath, Oregon. Bending glass tubing over a flame in a chemistry class piqued his interest and unknowingly, set in motion a career and lifetime venture.
After several years as a hobbyist, Scott made the acquaintance of accomplished glass artists Skip Horton and Buzz Williams. Under their guidance and tutoring, working with glass became Scott’s passion as well as his livelihood. During the next few years, Scott worked as both a furnace worker and also a flame worker.
In 1994, a turning point came about when Scott took a class at the Pilchuck School of Glass taught by world famous Robert Mickelson. According to Scott, “Pilchuck opened my eyes and imagination to what was truly possible, and I have never recovered.” His ongoing quest led him to Italy where he lived in Murano and continued to study under the direction of master glass artist, Cesare Toffolo.
Scott has been blowing glass for over two decades now, and he specializes in borosilicate flame-work. Scott’s inspiration is his love of nature. He defines his glass creations as whimsical representations of the world he sees. His work is currently featured in many fine galleries throughout the United States.

By the Bay Gallery is proud to present the work of Scott Bisson in our collection of the finest in American Crafts.
