Shawn Tsai’s work delicately captures the beauty and complexity of nature within the medium of glass. Each piece is skillfully crafted by hand with care and precision from inside his Southern California workshop. Through the years, Shawn has amassed a collection of sculptures that not only combine art & craftsmanship, but also capture the beauty and motion of nature through glass. With heat and imagination, glass rods are transformed into unique sculptures. Since molds are never used, no two sculptures are identical.

For Shawn, lampworking started as a hobby. He immediately became fascinated by the craft after watching other glassblowers transform the molten material into works of art. He is completely self-taught and his artwork reflects his own style. He draws inspiration from nature and strives to realistically depict each creature. From the delicacy of his marine fish to the boldness of his land mammals, Shawn’s expertise in composition and blending of colors with clear glass represents one of the best examples in lampworking today.
